Urban street networks, as the backbone of city morphology, play a crucial role in spatial development, accessibility improvement, and the reduction of spatial inequalities. This study adopts a multiscale approach to analyze the street network of Khorramabad City using Space Syntax techniques combined with K-Means clustering in order to identify spatial patterns influencing urban physical development at local, intermediate, and global scales. Street data were extracted from OpenStreetMap and modeled as axial lines in DepthmapX. Core indices—including integration, choice, and connectivity—were calculated at each scale. The findings reveal that at the local scale, streets with high accessibility (55%) function as primary axes for local mobility and service provision; at the intermediate scale, highly integrated streets (48–52%) balance inter-district connections and traffic flow; and at the global scale, streets with high choice values (55%) support city-wide connectivity and major infrastructural development. However, the absence of real traffic data limited performance validation. The results highlight the necessity of strengthening intermediate-level streets, improving traffic infrastructure, and enhancing accessibility in peripheral zones to foster balanced urban development. This research provides a novel framework for optimizing street networks in developing cities and recommends the use of GPS-based mobility data or traffic counts in future studies, particularly in mountainous urban contexts.

Informal settlements are a symbol of instability in the economic, social and cultural systems of the urban community. The consequence of this instability is to increase the degree of vulnerability in various dimensions, including physical vulnerability. These areas have affected the quality of life of the citizens with their problems, and on the other hand, managing this part of the city is different and difficult compared to other urban areas. According to the importance of threats of informal settlements against environmental hazards, the purpose of this article is to study the effective factors of physical vulnerability and modeling in the Asad Abadi neighborhood of Khorramabad. The research method is analytical-descriptive. In terms of purpose, the research method is applied-developmental. For data analysis, multivariate regression model, support vector machine model (SVM-ԑ) and random forest (RF) algorithm were used. The research findings showed that Assad Abadi neighborhood is in poor condition according to all physical indicators. From the perspective of residents of Asad Abadi neighborhood, the public service index with a regression coefficient of 0.429 has the most effect on physical vulnerability. Based on the evaluation criteria, the sigmoidal kernel model of the vector machine gives better results than the other methods. This model correctly predicts the physical vulnerability of informal residential complexes to hazards in more than 60% of cases.

A sidewalk is a part of the urban space where pedestrian movement is prioritized and vehicle movement is eliminated in all or part of it. In addition to providing access, the sidewalk creates a lively, safe and comfortable space for the presence of different social groups, social interactions and optional activities. The aim of the current research is to present a model of sidewalk construction in Khorramabad city with a theoretical-applied approach based on modeling and software studies. To achieve the objectives of the research, 4 categories of indicators are used through the minimum spanning tree algorithm in the standard Matlab 2016 software environment. For the spatial analysis of the indicators, the network analysis process has been used in the ArcGIS software environment. The results showed that 29.43% of the area of Khorramabad is in a completely suitable condition for the construction of sidewalk. Spatial analysis of Khorramabad city shows that five optimal routes can be achieved for the development of sidewalks in the city. These routes are in accordance with the theoretical models obtained from the research, including: socio-economic, physical-spatial, traffic and access criteria. The best routes for pedestrian construction are: 22 Bahman Square, Velayat Boulevard, 60 Meter Boulevard, and Sharq Boulevard towards Koi Enghelab.
