Spatial regeneration is a modern approach to producing spatial organization aligned with new conditions and emerging characteristics. It plays a significant role in establishing new urban relations or redefining existing ones. The aim of this study is to identify the key drivers of place identity influencing spatial regeneration in the peri-urban settlements of Shirvan. The research is applied in purpose and descriptive–analytical in nature. Theoretical foundations were developed through documentary and library studies, while key drivers were extracted through field surveys and questionnaires. The study sample consisted of 25 experts and rural planners from North Khorasan Province and Shirvan Township. Data analysis was conducted using MicMac software, and spatial mapping was performed with GIS. The findings indicate that, based on the degree of direct and indirect influence, 83 factors were identified and categorized into four main components as key drivers. The results show that: - improving satisfaction through enhanced rural–urban and inter-village interactions (direct effect: +17, indirect effect: +1683); - improving rural income sources and reducing poverty among peri-urban households (direct: +9, indirect: +3272); - promoting mixed land uses and enhancing access to services within the physical fabric of settlements (direct: +8, indirect: +3852); - participation in local council elections as an indicator of increased voluntary activities (direct: +8, indirect: +6272); - satisfaction with the visual quality of public spaces (direct: +8, indirect: −926); - and reducing environmental pollution to enhance rural living conditions (direct: +7, indirect: +2892) were identified as critical drivers across five dimensions—economic, socio-cultural, spatial–physical, and environmental—towards achieving the sustainability of peri-urban settlements.

The purpose of implementing the Hadi project is to achieve a desirable and satisfactory life in rural areas. Based on this, it seems necessary to evaluate the environmental quality of the villages in which the Hadi project has been implemented, considering its impact on ecological spaces as an inevitable approach in the field of rural planning. The present study is an attempt to investigate the impact of the implementation of Hadi projects on improving the environmental quality of rural settlements. The research method of this study is descriptive-analytical and is based on documentary sources and field studies based on completing the questionnaire. The statistical population of the study included all the villages (18 villages) in which the Hadi project was implemented and among them 8 villages that had been under construction for at least 5 years since the implementation of the Hadi project were selected by sampling method. Then, considering the number of households living in the sample villages and using the Cochran's formula, 227 households were considered as the sample household size. Data analysis was performed using ArcGIS and SPSS software. The results of the Wilcoxon test show that the implementation of the Hadi project in the villages of the study area has been effective in improving the environmental quality of rural settlements. Also, the results of one-way analysis of variance test show that the implementation of Hadi projects on physical, aesthetic and visual perception components has more effective than other components in the environmental quality of rural settlements.

The healthy village project aims at creating a suitable village for living and promoting the health of community members through their participation. Housing is considered as one of the important projects of the healthy village. The present study aims at evaluating sustainable housing indices by descriptive-analytical method in Kurdistan province. Findings of the present study indicated that 48 percent of rural settlements in Kurdistan province do not have access to enough sun light, 73 percent of the villages lack safe drinking water, in 82 percent of villages the sewage systems is not covered, and 48 percent of houses are considered as low-durable structures. The analytical results based on the t-test showed that of 22 studied variables, only 4 cases were above the average. Also, the results showed that according to comparative studies with the average figures of the country, the most rural houses of Kurdistan province located in the unhealthy category. Therefore, one of the strategies for sustainable housing is low interest loans and designing houses in accordance to environmental conditions of villages.

Governance as a new idea is replacing the concept of government. The concept of governance is based on cooperation between governments and civil societies. The fundamental principle of the concept is that instead of full responsibility for the country’s administration by the government, the citizens, private sectors, and public institutions are also responsible for running the country. In recent decades, the approach has been developed in rural areas and modern management with a focus on rural district administration and Islamic Councils is one its manifestations. The present study, using descriptive-analytical method, investigates the realization of good governance indicators in rural areas of Lenjan County. The study is a practical type and the required data was collected by documentary-field methods. The statistical society includes all the villagers in which the sample was obtained by cluster random sampling method. Accordingly, views and international experiences were studied and explored, among them eight important indicators of good governance in sample villages were tested through completion of 250 questionnaires by the heads of households. The results of applying t-test showed that good governance indicators with total mean of 3.24 have been realized less than the desired level. Specifically, the indicators of justice and equality were higher than the desired mean of the researcher (3.5), but the rest were lower than the desired level. The result of kruskal-Wallis test to compare villages’ rankings also showed that there were significant differences between villages regarding realization of good governance. The results of applying one-way analysis variance (ANOVA) also showed that regarding good governance indicators villages were significantly different.
