This study aims to identify, structurally analyze, and prioritize the factors influencing the formation of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart village approach in Iran. The primary problem addressed is the absence of an integrated framework to elucidate the interrelationships among technological, economic, social, and managerial components, and to assess their impact within the context of the country's rural areas. This research is applied in terms of objective and utilizes a descriptive-analytical methodology. Data were collected through documentary studies and by soliciting opinions from experts in the field of rural planning ($n=30$). The Delphi method was employed to extract key components. Subsequently, the DEMATEL technique was utilized to analyze causal relationships and determine the degrees of influence and dependence, while the Analytic Network Process (ANP) was used for final weighting and prioritization. The DEMATEL results indicated that Smart Agriculture, Smart Energy, and Smart Economy, with impact values of 1.001, 0.137, and 0.087 respectively, play a driving role in the relationship network and are categorized as causal factors. However, the limit super matrix results in the ANP analysis reveal that Smart Environment achieved the highest final weight (0.27032), followed by Smart Agriculture (0.19688) and Smart Health (0.16148). At the sub-criteria level, technologies related to environmental monitoring, smart resource management, and digital health garnered the highest priority. The findings suggest that realizing an IoT-based smart village requires strengthening environmental and technological infrastructures, focusing on smart agriculture and smart health, and establishing institutional coordination at the local level.

Spatial regeneration is a modern approach to producing spatial organization aligned with new conditions and emerging characteristics. It plays a significant role in establishing new urban relations or redefining existing ones. The aim of this study is to identify the key drivers of place identity influencing spatial regeneration in the peri-urban settlements of Shirvan. The research is applied in purpose and descriptive–analytical in nature. Theoretical foundations were developed through documentary and library studies, while key drivers were extracted through field surveys and questionnaires. The study sample consisted of 25 experts and rural planners from North Khorasan Province and Shirvan Township. Data analysis was conducted using MicMac software, and spatial mapping was performed with GIS. The findings indicate that, based on the degree of direct and indirect influence, 83 factors were identified and categorized into four main components as key drivers. The results show that: - improving satisfaction through enhanced rural–urban and inter-village interactions (direct effect: +17, indirect effect: +1683); - improving rural income sources and reducing poverty among peri-urban households (direct: +9, indirect: +3272); - promoting mixed land uses and enhancing access to services within the physical fabric of settlements (direct: +8, indirect: +3852); - participation in local council elections as an indicator of increased voluntary activities (direct: +8, indirect: +6272); - satisfaction with the visual quality of public spaces (direct: +8, indirect: −926); - and reducing environmental pollution to enhance rural living conditions (direct: +7, indirect: +2892) were identified as critical drivers across five dimensions—economic, socio-cultural, spatial–physical, and environmental—towards achieving the sustainability of peri-urban settlements.

The complete involvement of human sensory perceptions with space and the presence of meaningful elements in it, will be the basis for creating the quality of the environment in future times and will cause a collective awareness of the physical quality in question. The key purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of environmental perception on the physical planning of rural suburbs of Mashhad metropolis. . This research is descriptive-analytical in nature and applied in terms of purpose. Data collection was done by two methods: documentary and field. The field method is based on the distribution of questionnaires. The unit of analysis in this study is rural households. In the present study, according to Cochran's formula, 193 households out of a total of 4800 rural households living in 12 villages around the metropolis of Mashhad in the central part of the township have been studied. Based on the results of the research, according to the villagers, the level of physical planning of rural settlements in general with a value of T-7.66 was lower than the theoretical average of the research (ie 3). According to the results of Cumulative Weight Production Evaluation Model (WASPAS), Loghmani, Amrghan Toos and Arvand villages have the highest level of rural physical planning. According to the GRA model ranking results, Arvand, Loghmani and Amrghan Toos villages are ranked first to third. The results showed that there is a significant and direct relationship between the two variables (with a value of T equal to 7.394 and an acceptable level of significance); and a person's perception of the physical environment with an impact factor of 0.487 has a direct effect on rural physical planning. This indicates a direct relationship between people's perception of the environment and their mental image of the environment. Also, on the one hand, human perception of the environment affects physical planning, and on the other hand, the ability of environmental planning affects the individual's perceptions. Perception of the physical environment determines the factors of a person's reaction to the environment and causes the individual to prefer the natural environment, followed by the effectiveness of planning.

Recognition and analysis of rural manager's supervision over construction in suburban villages is so important that planners currently use it to assess the extent of physical development in such areas. Developing regulations and supervising the various executive stages of rural construction is the most important stage in rural management. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of supervision of rural managers (Dehyari) on improving the physical development of villages. Regression and correlation statistical tests were used to analyze the data and intelligent structural model was used to identify the effect of independent variables. The statistical population includes households living in rural villages of Tus district and the required sample size was 203 households which were determined using Cochran's statistical formula. Due to the large number of villages and the inability of researchers to study all of them, 12 villages out of 66 were selected based on the N0 formula. Variables such as; recognizing the characteristics and environmental conditions of the village, the obligation to obtain permits for construction, improvement of energy transmission lines, development of civil infrastructure, observance of public rights, observance of environmental principles, observance of safety principles, preservation of village values and observance of residential standards were considered as independent variables. The results showed that these independent variables with a coefficient of 0.35 have an effect on the dependent variable of physical development of the villages. However, the effect of the independent variable of guiding and warning signs during construction was not confirmed due to the low value of the obtained t-statistic, which is less than 1.96.

The security of rural residential areas as a common factor between human and environmental arenas is a necessity for promoting life quality of people. This factor is affected by the way that rural residential areas are designed and planned. The present study is aimed to evaluate the effects of physical planning on security of rural residents in a rural area of Mashhad county, emphasizing their social security. Based on aim, the present study is an applied research and based on method and nature, it is a descriptive-analytical one. The unit of analysis is rural households of three rural districts namely Tabadkan, Tous, and Darzab which have been targeted for the rural conducted plans. Of 2356 rural households in the study area, 163 households were selected as sample by simple random sampling based on Cochran formula with an error equals to 0.075. To measure the security rate, 13 social indicators and 11 physical planning indices are applied. Some statistical tests were used for data analysis including Pearson Statistical Test, Single-sample T-test, Regression and Path Analysis. The results indicated that the mean of physical planning variable in sample villages was 2.06 which is a moderated figure tending to lower places of ranking. Based on the single sample T-test, the index of building quality with an amount of 8.15 was more considerable. The mean of social security variable was 3.42 which indicated a moderate situation for the studied villages. The lowest place of ranking was belonged to individual security with a mean of 2.73. Based on Pearson correlation results it was marked that there is a direct and significant relationship between physical planning and social security perception with a figure of 0.045. Also, the results of Path analysis indicated that the size of parcels with an effect coefficient of 0.255 and compatibility with an effect coefficient of 0.254 have had the highest impact on social security perception.

The physical environment form of a settlement is an effective factor in formation the security sense for its residents. The current study was aimed to investigate the effects of sprawl on the sense of physical security in rural settlements of Binaloud county based on CPTED approach. Based on aim, the present study is an applicable, and based on methodology it is a descriptive-analytical research. Statistical sample includes 190 rural households selected from all 5766 households resided in 8 villages of Binaloud county. The sample was selected by stratified random method. The results showed that road quality index with a mean of 3.05 had the least effect on creating the sense of security among the villagers. In contrast, the indices of vegetation (with a mean of 3.35), grading and density (with a mean of 3.26) and natural or informal monitoring (with a mean of 3.24), had a greater impact on promoting the sense of security among the residents. According to Pearson correlation results, there is a significant and indirect relationship between the sprawl and the sense of physical security with a coefficient of -0.2. The results of the path analysis indicated that spatial-physical index with the coefficient of influence of -0.354 had the greatest direct impact on sense of physical security. Subsequently, we calculated the indirect coefficients of the independent variables on the main dependent variable in the four stages of path analysis and investigated the total direct and indirect effects. As a result, the spatial-temporal index with the coefficient of influence of 0.354, and then the social index with the coefficient of influence of 0.142 and the environmental index with the coefficient of influence of -0.129 had the greatest effects on developing the sense of physical security respectively.

Today, rural construction is considered as one of the main components of the rural develop-ment. one of the most important plans for the improvement and development of the villages is the implementation of the Rural Guide Plan. In this context, the present research is to define criteria for assessing the environmental effects of implementing the Rural Guide Plan according to rele-vant sources. In this study the research methodology in terms of objective is applied and in terms of method it is analytical-descriptive. The major parts of the required data were collected through field studies and using questionnaires. The collected data was then fed into the statistical package for the social science (SPSS) in order to be analyzed and one sample T- test was utilized. Based on the Cochran formula, the sample size was 311 households which were determined by simple random sampling method among families in Shoosti- Zamni village, Babamidan village in Rostam County. The results of the study revealed that despite implementing the Rural Guide Plan problems such as air pollution due to the unhygienic disposal of waste, water stagnations and flooding out of water due to unprincipled constructions of the street curbs and the sidewalks and expansion of pollution caused by animal waste have considerably negative environmental impacts on the villag-es. In these regards, the main findings include the lack or defect in environmental studies during preparing plans and also defect in predicting the consequences of implementing the ten-stage pro-jects in the environments of the villages. Finally, based on the findings of the field studies and the results, some guidelines were provided as feedbacks in order to modify their approach to intervene in the natural environment and the rural environment. The most important of them include correc-tion of service plan description and leading them towards prioritizing environmental studies as well as to the region (habitat)-centered approach in preparing and implementing projects.
