چکیده
در دهة اخیر حجم قابل توجهی از کتابها و مقاله‌های علمی در ایران در شاخه های مختلف دانش جغرافیا انتشار یافته است. اغلب این نوشته‌ها به مسایل خاصی پرداخته‌اند، هرچند به ندرت حاوی مطلبی در بارة شرح و تبیین انواع مفاهیم و اصطلاحات این رشته بوده‌اند. افزون بر این، مفاهیمی که به کار رفته‌اند، کمتر از لحاظ معنایی به‌درستی در تناسب با مباحث و در مواردی حتی نادرست و گمراه‌کننده بوده‌اند؛ این نکته به‌ویژه در مورد خطاهای واردشده از راه ترجمة این مفاهیم به فارسی صادق است. گذشته از این، گرایشها و رویکردهای نوین در جغرافیا، بویژه مباحث فضایی و نظریه‌های برنامه‌ریزی بیش از هرچیز مورد غفلت قرار گرفته است. در مقابل، آنچه بیشتر مورد عنایت بوده، مقاله‌های مبتنی بر مطالعات موردی دانشجویان در همان قالب پایان‌نامه‌های تحصیلی بوده است. نتیجه آنکه نوعی ابهام در تبیین و کاربرد مفاهیم بنیادین و افزون بر آن، زمینة سردرگمی دانشجویان این رشته پدیدار شده است. هدف اصلی از این مقاله کوشش در راه شرح و تبیین بعضی مفاهیم کلیدیِ مطرح در مباحث مربوط به فضا و برنامه‌ریزی فضایی در چارچوب جغرافیای کاربردی است.
